Brunello di Montalcino |
Very fragrant and pure. Ripe plums but no hint of overripeness. Creamy richness and full, supple tannins make this an easy Brunello to enjoy. With more freshness on the finish it would rate even more highly. Drink now or hold. |

Morgon Cote du Py |
Reveling in the tannins of a young Côte du Py, this wine is rich, structured and dense. The tannins give the dry edge this wine needs to age. Intense with ripe black fruits, this is a powerful. wine. Drink from 2019. |

Pinot Noir |
From a vineyard that’s 40 years old, this smartly priced bottling shows vanilla, clove, hickory smoke and black cherry on the hearty nose. The palate is soft upon entry, showing more of that clove against a baked black-plum background. |

Poggi ai Frati Riserva |
New leather, blue flower, wild berry and a whiff of oak-driven spice lead the nose. The savory chewy palate offers mature black cherry, raspberry, star anise, clove and menthol while lithe tannins provide polished support. Drink through 2019. |

Merlot |
Gorgeous rose, plum and bramble notes perfume this exceptionally fragrant Merlot. Its complexity extends through the palate with bright cherry and plum flavors bolstered by savory nuances of olive and dried herb. Crisp acidity and fine persistent tannins guide a long finish. Guado de' Gemoli |
The 2013 Guado de' Gemoli, Chiappini's Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend, is a prototypical Bolgheri red. Flamboyant and generous, yet also super-refined, the 2013 is sumptuous and deeply expressive from the first taste. Raspberry jam, sweet spices and new French oak are front and center. The oak is a bit pronounced at this stage, but that is a relatively small critique for a wine that delivers the goods. Even with all of its natural intensity, the 2013 retains a good bit of freshness. |
