2010 Mas d'en Gil Coma Vella This is 70 percent garnacha and cariñena, from vines planted in the 1960s, blended with young-vine cabernet sauvignon. It shows plenty of ripe red fruit and notes of chestnuts, tea leaves and cloves. It’s impressive, with youthful tannins and tight acidity, needing a few years to mellow. 2012 Mas d'en Gil Coma Alta The clean, subtle and mineral 2012 Coma Alta is pure Garnacha Blanca partly fermented in barrel with 30% of the wine also matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for six months. The aromas are pure, with white flowers and some aromatic herbs plus a touch of pollen. The palate is sleek, delineated,and shows very good balance and subdued minerality. 2012 Mas d'en Gil Coma Alta Bright straw. Tightly focused peach, pear and orange pith aromas are accented by anise and succulent herbs. Fresh citrus fruit and dried pear flavors are lifted by tangy acidity and show a refreshingly dry edge. Deepens on the incisive finish, picking up a minerally quality and showing very good focus and length.
