2023 Castellroig Sabate i Coca Brut Nature Reserva The 2023 Reserva Brut Nature was produced with a blend of Xarel.lo, Macabeu, Parellada and Chardonnay from around 30 different plots that matured in bottle, where it refermented with lees for 21 months. It comes in at 11% alcohol with a pH of 2.78, meaning lots of freshness and also notable acidity, but it only has 0.5 grams of sugar, so now it's a brut nature. It has a bright yellow color and a serious nose, nuanced and complex. It has a bone-dry but tasty palate, with abundant bubbles. 70,875 bottles produced. It was disgorged in October 2025. 2023 Orto Vins Blanc 'Orto' I hadn't tasted the white for a while, the current vintage of which is the 2023 Blanc d'Orto, pure Garnacha Blanca from limestone soils with one day of maceration and fermentation in stainless steel, where it matured with lees for six months. It's not a shy or light white, as it comes in at 14.06% alcohol with a pH of 3.41 and 4.7 grams of acidity. It's fruit-driven, pure, varietal, clean and fresh and has character. 1,100 bottles were filled in the spring of 2024. Wine Advocate 91+ 2026-05-18
2021 La Ciarliana Vino Nobile di Montepulciano The 2021 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is pleasantly earthy, with flowery underbrush, sous-bois, woodland herbs and crushed cherries. It's surprisingly juicy with mineral-infused wild berry fruits and crisp mineral tones. This tapers off long with cheek-pinching tension and an attractive sweet-and-sour sensation. There's a balanced rusticity here that may not be for everyone, but adds gobs of character. Vinous 92 2026-05-13
2024 La Ciarliana Rosso di Montepulciano The 2024 Rosso di Montepulciano is wonderfully perfumed and lifted, with rose petals, geranium and mint complementing crushed blackberries. This is juicy and fresh, with candied citrus elevating crisp wild berry fruits. It leaves subtle tinges of fine tannin and sour cherry, finishing long and full of zesty tension. Vinous 91 2026-05-13
2025 Isabel Estate Sauvignon Blanc The 2025 Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc leads with spicy leaf herbs (coriander, jalapeño and the like). It's chalky and white accented, with sweet green pea and tonic water. This is a concentrated, punchy wine with plenty to offer in the way of texture and complexity. It's really good. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Wine Advocate 93 2026-05-12
2024 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon 'La Roche' The 2024 Morgon La Roche (previously Corcelette) comes from vines planted in 1929, and this was bottled at the end of June. It offers slightly blacker fruit than other cuvées, with touches of graphite and damp undergrowth. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine-grain tannins, lightly spiced, with impressive weight and density on the finish. Animated and quite delicious. Vinous 93 2026-05-06
2024 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py 'Javernieres' The 2024 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières spent 12 months in barrel. This has quite a complex bouquet, with brambly red fruit, hints of five-spice and white pepper, something almost Moroccan about this, in a good way. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannins, a silver thread of acidity, very harmonious, with a persistent finish. Excellent. Vinous 93 2026-05-06
2024 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py The 2024 Morgon Côte du Py was aged entirely in concrete vats. This is quite open and well-defined on the nose, a mixture of redcurrant and blackberry, with a touch of black olive in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity and just a touch of chewiness towards the finish that should soften with time. Give this 12 to 18 months in bottle. 2018 Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon 'Icon Heritage' Australia is a Cabernet Sauvignon powerhouse, but not in the Napa way. The wines tend to be jammier and have more savory notes. This bottle from Margaret River on the country’s West Coast is a great example, with notes of roasted tomatoes, ripe berries, and black plum. It lands full-bodied on the palate, with plush fruit and great acidity. VinePair 93 2026-05-06
2024 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Chollet The 2024 Morgon Chollet, hitherto Grands Cras and undergoing nine days of maceration, has a lovely bouquet with crushed strawberry, raspberry and touches of rose petal, blossoming with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red berry fruit, fine grip, lightly spiced and a quite persistent finish. This builds on the promise shown last year. Charming. Vinous 92 2026-05-06
